Litany of Complaints

Dear Lord
I know you've heard
All this before
Droned into Your ear
Repeated through the ages
Man's infidelity
To Love's gesture
The enemies capturing
Yet again
Your very Spouse and
Bride
Of which You warned so long ago
It's not the enemy at the gate
I fear but
Those within these gates
Disfigured in form
Their willful ways that
Leave us to suffer
In the pews
Lashed with ugly music
The Orc chorus in full swing
Spiced dish of restlessness with
The latest fashion
In heresy.

One with those in prison we
Languish
Beaten and starved
Left to die along
Cruel paths of tortured
Language
Refusing to invoke their
False gods
Please give us patience to
Endure
Until the dawn of grace
Or we take wings
And leave no footprints
To be found.
