There's a place in the
Graveyard
I avoid
With fear to tread
Upon.
I stumbled one
Unhappy day
Where the earth
Seemed to open beneath me,
Long, creeping fingers of evil,
And fumes
Filled the air.
In fright
I fled into the forest and
Ever since
Have crept below the site.
Sent only lingering
Glances on my way.
This new tomb
My dilemma,
Lies near to one who
Has been my old friend,
Many a sunny day we paused, and
chatted
Cried tears together,
Met across the ages.
Listened to the birds and
Felt the day sprung
Breezes.
Now I am torn
Between ties of friendship,
And fear of the
Now scorched
Hill.
Powerful stuff, George.
