Evil

St. Joan of Arc
Came from the west
Inside the evening dark
On her steed, torch blazing
To surround the
Buildings,
A house held captive by evil
Holding on in desperate
Darkness to kill
New growth.

Joan sets her steed
Towards the east
The invisible army presses
In answer to her battle cries
Hooves loud on cement
Round they gallop,
Through the alley and
Into the courtyard,
The battle rages under
Night's cover
And in the dawn of the day
There is only smoking ruins
And hoof prints of horses
On the lawn.
